Jill & Paul Yablon Classroom – Progress Update

Please excuse our appearanceThe construction crew has been hard at work on the future Jill & Paul Yablon Classroom. If you’ve visited the Lippincott Library in the past couple of weeks you’ve probably noticed some changes around the library. For the construction, we’ve relocated several computer terminals which are used for databases like Bloomberg, SDC, Factset, Datastream, and Morningstar. Ask at the reference desk for their new locations. The construction crew has also left its mark with plastic sheeting covering the work space and a noise level that is above the usual library volume. We apologize for the noise and the mess!

The room is really starting to take shape. Most of the framing has been done and we can now visualize how the room will look when it’s completed.  Here are some pictures of behind the scenes.

Jill & Paul Yablon Classroom Coming to Lippincott

Yablon 4Construction of a classroom space in Lippincott Library’s staff work area (located behind the Reference Desk) will begin in mid May. The room is made possible by a generous gift from Wharton Alumnae Jill Yablon and her husband Paul. Scheduled for completion by September 2013, the classroom will have 16 computer stations with dual monitors, plus a teaching station. It will be used to provide hands-on instruction for Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, and other financial databases. The room will be available to the Penn Community when it is not being used for instruction.

The movers already got to work on Thursday by moving all of the furniture out of the staff area.

We will keep you updated on the progress throughout the summer. Please excuse the noise and dust while construction is taking place!
